But the ghosts are the only ones who care if you are there or not. The hotel itself was a treat- all the hauntings, history and ghost stories did not disappoint. but overall, the service and staff were a disappointment. It just felt like sad, like no one really cared to give an effort to say"yes". (keep in mind we have been there for days and spent many many thousands of dollars between our group). ![]() I think the final disappointment came when we went to the front desk to drop 4 postcards to be mailed. ![]() While the staff seemed friendly no one was in any particular hurry to help when or if needed. The ice was located in only one location throughout the hotel. NEVER did we receive fresh towels, toilet paper, toiletries, clean glasses, a freshen up etc. We stayed 5 days, 4 nights - part of our group in the Cattle Baron Suite and part (us) in a regular room in the newer tower. I don't know if its Covid related or just general service but we felt like the service lacked serious attention. I called the hotel for an explanation and they let me know that the first night they had actually refunded my card $3500 and were trying to re-collect. When I got home, I was surprised to see that I had a settled charge on my card for around $860. I checked out with an incidental bill of around $40. It wasn't until the morning of my checkout that they determined that was the issue and had just been apologizing with no explanation each of the prior days. The issues did not stop as they were unable to stop their nightly reconciliation system from attempting to charge my card for anywhere from $2,500-5,500 each night for the duration of my stay. More so, the next morning there was a new charge for almost $900 when the incidentals hold should have been around $250. I explained this to the staff and they attempted to fix it, however the funds were still locked up for the entire weekend. My reservation was pre-paid and when I gave the front desk my credit card for incidentals the staff member ran my card for the entire amount of the stay, almost $3,500. While the hotel staff were all very friendly, I had major issues with billing that started at checkin. My bigger issues were with customer service. This had not been my first choice of hotel but was what I ended up with in a sold out weekend. The building is beautiful and cared for but in true to age fashion but the hotels accommodations don't match the price tag. The Driskill makes a better tourist stop than a hotel to stay in. ![]()
